About the BSA

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to maximize the value of our education through networking between the business community, faculty, and students, as well as providing advocacy for our members. We aim to have fun while preparing students for real world situations. Our goal is to create a legacy to benefit students today and in the future.


Who We Are:  

    The BSA is made-up of primarily of business students that work together to plan social events to give business students the opportunity to network with each other, and business people.  The BSA has been an integral part of the Vancouver Island University Business Program since 2003.


What We Do:

       The BSA hosts fundraising events and initiatives, and provides students with the tools and resources required to succeed in today's rapidly-changing business climate.



We fundraise to:

          -Provide a scholarship for a business student through an annuity

          -Sponsor business students in attending Student Leadership Conferences throughout BC and Canada


We host events that:

         -Provide networking opportunities for business students

         -Facilitate learning outside of the classroom environment, such as resume-building and interview-skills workshops

         -Connect students with potential employers interested in hiring student leaders

 

Objectives:

We seek to:

Ø     Foster friendship and mutual understanding among our members;

Ø      Provide opportunities for students to participate in, organize, and promote professional, academic and social activities;

Ø      Provide a forum for discussion of matters concerning the quality and accessibility of education within Vancouver Island University;

Ø      Provide a means of expressing a consensus of student opinion to the Faculty of Management through representation at departmental meetings,
         and on such committees as are appropriate;

Ø      Sponsor students to various conferences and educational sessions, in regards to business management;

Ø      Promote student interaction and future networks through social activities;

Ø     Host activities, social events that provide a service and public representation in the community through volunteerism and community service.
